Pyrethrin

The BACKYARD FREEDOM^TM misting system uses a Pyrethrin-based insecticide to create a protective barrier from mosquitoes and other flying insects. Pyrethrins are natural insecticides produced by certain species of the chrysanthemum plant. The dusts and extracts derived from the plant are collectively known as pyrethrins.

Natural pyrethrins have been used for centuries and continue to be effective today, suggesting minimal resistance. Pyrethrins have been used in gardening, produce, grain storage, poultry pens, and on dogs and cats to control lice and fleas.

The natural pyrethrins are contact poisons which quickly penetrate the nervous system of the insect. They have a quick knockdown and kill effect on a broad spectrum of flying insects. Pyrethrins have been proven to be a very effective insecticide that repels a broad spectrum of pesky insects at very low concentrations.

Permethrin

Permethrin is a common synthetic chemical, widely used as an insecticide and as an insect repellent. It belongs to the family of synthetic chemicals called pyrethroids and functions as a neurotoxin, affecting the insect's nervous systems. Permethrin works similar to Pyrethrins, but has a longer residual than natural pyrethins creating longer lasting protection with fewer applications.

The BACKYARD FREEDOM system is preset to use the precise dilution of the BACKYARD FREEDOM insecticide. The use of any alternative insecticide in the BACKYARD FREEDOM system could result in adverse effectiveness. Using any other misting system chemical will void warranty. Neither Permethrin or Pyrethin are to be used around lakes or bodies of water where aquatic life is present as it is toxic to fish. Use BACKYARD FREEDOM misting insecticides only as directed by instructions. BACKYARD FREEDOM chemical is safe to plants as long as used as directed. Over use could result in plant burn, especially on large leaved plants. Wait 10-15 minutes after application to facilitate your backyard.
